Italiaonline, the parent company of both Libero and Virgilio mail, has a solid footing in the Italian email market. With more than 11.1 million monthly users, it is the preferred email provider over both Outlook and Yahoo.

According to data from Audiweb / Nielsen, the breakdown of monthly active users in Italy is the following:

1. Gmail - 19.2 million users
2. Virgilio and Libero - 11.1 million users
3. Outlook - 6.2 million users
4. TIM (Telecom Italia) - 4.0 million users 
5. Yahoo! - 2.0 million users
